The Wythe County Administration Office will be closed to the public for the week of March 30 through April 3, 2020. County staff will be at the office and available by telephone or email. The main number is 276-223-4500.

Utility payments can be made with a credit card via phone (276-223-4501), by U.S. Mail, or by using the drop box located to the right of the entrance.
Building Permit forms can be obtained online at http://www.wytheco.org/index.php/resources/forms and may be completed and returned via email, U.S. Mail, or via the drop box. Upon receipt of the permit, staff will contact you for payment information.

We value your cooperation and understanding and appreciate your vigilance in practicing social distancing during this time. We encourage you to call the main number with any questions or concerns and follow our website and social media sites for information.

Continuing to assist in mitigating the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, the Wythe County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) will continue to suspend all activities until April 23, at a minimum. This includes sports leagues, practices, clinics, and other activities coordinated by WCPR or area Athletic Booster Clubs.

Rural Retreat Campground and Pool

Governor Northam announced that effective Friday March 27th through April 30th all overnight campgrounds, cabins, and restrooms at Virginia State Parks will be closed. Currently, Rural Retreat Lake Campground is scheduled to open May 15th, 2020 and Rural Retreat Pool is scheduled to open May 22nd, 2020. WCPR will keep residents informed of any changes to that schedule due to the pandemic.

We do encourage those currently visiting the Rural Retreat Lake Park to continue following public health guidelines and social distancing practices by maintaining a distance of 6 feet and not congregating in groups of more than 10. WCPR values your cooperation and understanding of the current situation. Due to the continuing health warnings regarding the COVID-19/Coronavirus and the need continued for social distancing, this office will be closed to the public, Monday, March 30, 2020 through Friday, April 3, 2020.
It is our goal to continue to serve our citizens during this time; however the health and safety of you, the citizens, and the office staff are very important! The office will continue to be staffed to assist you via phone 276-223-6070 and email.

For tax payments, you are encouraged to utilize the following payment options:

Payment box – located along the sidewalk beside the Circuit Court building on South Sixth Street (Check or money order payments ONLY, DO NOT PUT CASH in the box) Please put all payments in a sealed envelope.
Mail – 225 South 4th Street, Room 104, Wytheville, VA 24382 (Check or money order payments ONLY)
Online – www.webfeepay.com, your account number is required and a convenience fee will be charged. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and e-check are accepted.
Please call the office at 276-223-6070 for tax inquiries, including obtaining the current balance due and to make payments. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and are subject to change during the closure.

The Wythe County Department of Social Services office is closed to the public at this time as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are taking all precautions to protect the health and safety of our staff and the citizens we serve. We will continue to provide essential services with more emphasis on telephone interaction.

Although closed to the public, the agency will continue to operate between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Staff will be working staggered schedules and therefore will not be in the office daily. If you need to reach a specific employee, please leave a voicemail and you will be contacted upon the employee’s availability. If you need immediate assistance, please contact the receptionist, who will direct you to an appropriate available staff member. Please be aware that our response times to non-emergencies may be longer than usual.

If you need a replacement EBT card, you may call 1-866-281-2448, or contact the receptionist during business hours.
