Animal Shelter Part-time Custodian PDF Print E-mail

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for a part-time custodian (up to 28 hours/week) at the Wythe County Animal Shelter. The successful candidate must be in good physical condition and have experience working with animals. Candidate must have experience in dealing with the public, computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and photography.  Applications accepted until position filled.

 
Rural Retreat Lake Campground & Pool Job Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

The Wythe County Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for seasonal, part-time employment at Rural Retreat Campground and Pool; April through September. Positions available are: Campground Manager, Campground Clerks/Maintenance and Lifeguards. 

All Candidates must possess a positive friendly demeanor, work well with the public, and be willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed. Employees should be able to lift 50 lbs or less without assistance and have reliable transportation to and from job site. 

Lifeguard responsibilities will include lifeguarding, daily maintenance/cleaning pool and surrounding area, and other duties deemed necessary. 

All Lifeguards and Pool Employees must be Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid Certified and be able to provide proof of certification PRIOR to employment. Please include a copy of certifications with application. 

Campground Manager will be responsible for supervising and scheduling employees, camp reservations, managing the camp store, campground maintenance, and other duties deemed necessary. 

Campground Clerks/Maintenance employees are responsible for managing the camp store, daily maintenance of the store and campground, campground reservations, and other duties deemed necessary.

New River Regional Water Plant - Part-time Director PDF Print E-mail

The New River Regional Water Authority is accepting applications for a part-time Director for the New River Regional Water Plant. It is anticipated the position will be required to work up to 30 hours per week.

The Director shall perform a variety of skilled work as a supervisor over the water operators, operator trainees, and temporary workers, including procurement, developing budget and complying with approved budget. Responsible for directing an efficient, overall operation/maintenance of the plant and to maintain proper documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations.

It is a plus to possess a Class I or Class II Virginia Waterworks Operator Certification as issued by the Virginia State Board for Certification of Water or Wastewater Works or shall at least have a two-year degree in environmental science or civil engineering. Must have five (5) years experience related to operation, repair and maintenance of water treatment systems including the operation of related maintenance equipment and must have a minimum of five-years supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will acceptable.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors’ is accepting job applications for a full-time custodial position for the Building and Grounds Department.

Under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian, the Custodian is responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of the County buildings and personally performs routine maintenance work as needed. They are responsible for reporting any equipment failures or building defects via written work requests to the Head Custodian. Custodians are charged with the inventory and reporting of cleaning supplies and toiletries to the Head Custodian. Other responsibilities include cleaning of the buildings and grounds and the removal of trash on a daily basis both inside and outside of the buildings. Cleaning activities that need to be done on a daily basis, but not limited to once a day, include the complete cleaning of bath rooms, kitchen areas, hallways, common areas, and offices. Cleaning of these areas should produce a clean visual and sanitary inspection. As occasioned cleaning should include the following activities, but not be limited to: mopping, waxing, and buffing floors, dusting, washing windows and walls, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and weeding flower beds. Custodians should also perform any additional duties designated by the Head Custodian, Department Head, or County Administrator.

In addition to the paid wages this position includes health insurance, annual and sick leave benefits, and paid holidays. A full list of benefits can be obtained from the Human Resources department. Current work hours are normally from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

NRRWA Water Operator - Trainee PDF Print E-mail

The New River Regional Water Authority is accepting applications for a full-time Water Operator Trainee/Maintenance position.

Candidate must be self-motivated, have the ability to work independently and a have a team player attitude. Candidate must have a valid motor vehicles operator’s license. A background check and drug testing will be conducted on the selected candidate. The candidate shall have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on machinery to include a skid-steer and to provide day-to-day maintenance chores. Candidate must have the ability to obtain a water operator license within twelve (12) months of employment date.
