The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for a full-time Dispatcher for the Emergency Operations Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Field calls for service from the public for police, fire and rescue.  To dispatch police, fire and rescue personnel by radio/radio paging.  Entry and inquiry into VCIN/NCIC/DMV records via data terminal.  Operate modem and fast-paced computer-aided dispatch utilizing DOS and Windows based operating systems.  Carry out assigned miscellaneous tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School diploma or two-years experience preferred.  Must possess good keyboarding skills, ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC certification, ability to communicate professionally and efficiently via telephone and radio, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  May be required to pass a hearing test.  Must be willing to work any shift with no exceptions; currently working a 2-2-3 day, 12 hour shifts.  Drug Screen and extensive background check required.
