The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Operator or Operator Trainee for the Wythe County Water and Wastewater Department.
Job functions include operation and maintenance of the wastewater systems, which service nearly four thousand residential and commercial customers. Job duties include but are not limited to: operation of wells, pump stations, and wastewater treatment facilities; performing the necessary field and laboratory tests to ensure compliance with State regulations; maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
The Operator Trainee will be required to obtain the necessary water and wastewater licenses as a condition of employment within a specified time period. Job hours include weekends and holidays as directed.
Applicants who possess or are in the process of obtaining Associates in Applied Science Degree in the field of Environmental Science, Water/Wastewater Specialization, or Chemical/Biological sciences preferred. Applicant should possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, computer skills, mechanical and electrical skills, be self-motivated and possess a team player attitude. The candidate shall have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Applicants must possess at a minimum a High School diploma, GED or Vocational school graduate education. The applicant must have a valid motor vehicles operator’s license.
