The Wythe County Board of Supervisors’ is accepting job applications for a full-time custodial position for the Building and Grounds Department.
Under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian, the Custodian is responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of the County buildings and personally performs routine maintenance work as needed. They are responsible for reporting any equipment failures or building defects via written work requests to the Head Custodian. Custodians are charged with the inventory and reporting of cleaning supplies and toiletries to the Head Custodian. Other responsibilities include cleaning of the buildings and grounds and the removal of trash on a daily basis both inside and outside of the buildings. Cleaning activities that need to be done on a daily basis, but not limited to once a day, include the complete cleaning of bath rooms, kitchen areas, hallways, common areas, and offices. Occasional cleaning includes, but not limited to, the following activities: mopping, waxing, and buffing floors, dusting, washing windows and walls, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and weeding flower beds. Custodians should also perform any additional duties designated by the Head Custodian, Department Head, or County Administrator.
In addition to the paid wages this position includes health insurance, annual and sick leave benefits, and paid holidays. Current work hours are normally from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
