Hay Removal Outline

Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting bid proposals for the removal of hay on three different sites. All bid proposals should be in a sealed envelope marked HAY REMOVAL and to the attention of Martha Collins, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. Proposals should be submitted by 2:00 on June 30, 2017.

County expectations for the agreement should contain at least the following:

  • Any area that hay is not made will be bush hogged.
  • A general liability insurance policy naming the county and a hold harmless agreement signed
  • Damage to any structure or surface will be repaired within 30 days of notice.
  • Proposed monetary payout to the county of a flat rate for each site per year
  • Land applicants are being applied to Lot 24. Coordination with the land applicator will be required. Any additional applicant will need approval from the County.
  • Wythe County reserves the right to withdrawal from some or all of the agreement with 15 days written notice.

Each area will be considered independent of the other areas and awards will be made as such. The length of contracts will be for the 2017 and 2018 calendar years.

Area 1 also known as Lot 24:

Request for Bids: Propane Delivery to Wythe County’s Fire & Rescue Stations PDF Print E-mail

The County of Wythe is requesting bids to secure the lowest prices per gallon of propane and delivery to five separate locations in Wythe County, Virginia, in order to service various fire and rescue stations.

This bid is to include a locked-in propane gas price for a term of one-year.

This bid shall also include any associated fees that would accompany the usage agreement; examples of fees include transportation fee, tank rental fee, any safety fees, etc.

This bid shall include servicing five fire and rescue departments located inside the County of Wythe, these are: Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department, Barren Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department, Max Meadows Volunteer Fire Department, and Lead Mines Rescue Squad.

All bids shall be received no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017.

All bids will be opened publicly at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, inside the EOC Room in the basement of the county office building located at 290 South Sixth St., Wytheville, Virginia, 24382.

After bids are opened, county officials will study each bid carefully in the following days and make any necessary public announcements only after each bid and company has been carefully researched.

 

 
Speedwell Phase III Water PDF Print E-mail

Separate sealed Bids will be received for construction of the Speedwell Water

Extension - Phase III project, generally consisting of two contracts in the Route 21 area south of the Town of Wytheville.  The first contract will be comprised of three divisions of water extensions along Route 21 consisting of 10,400 lf of 8”water main.  The second contract will be comprised of multiple divisions consisting of pressurized water improvements & extensions around the Grayson Water tank on Route 21 and associated appurtenances.  Division I will consist of 4200 lf of 8” water main on Cripple Creek Road east of Route 21.  Division II will consist of 4300 lf of 8” water main on Stroupe Mountain Road south of Route 21. Division III will consist of 1900 lf of 8” water main on Cinnamon Run west of Route 21.  Division IV-A will consist of a pressurized booster station at the existing Grayson Tank and 1350 lf of 4” pressurized main along Route 21.  Division IV-B will consist of an aeration/blower system install at the existing Grayson Tank.  Division V will consist of extension of 2” mains along Route 21 north and south of the tank area.

Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of Peed & Bortz, LLC (540-394-3214) upon payment of $250 for each set.  One-half of the deposit will be refunded to each document holder of record who returns a complete set of Bidding Documents in good condition within 10 days after opening of Bids.

 

A Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference shall be held at 10:00 AM local prevailing time June 13, 2017 at the Wythe County Offices, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA  24382

 

Withdrawal of Bids due to error shall be in accordance with Virginia Code Section 2.2-4330.B. 1.

 

Should the apparent low Bid exceed available funds, the Owner reserves the right to negotiate with the apparent low bidder to obtain a contract price within available funds.

 

Bidders shall comply with Virginia Code Section 54.1-1112 regarding information required with Bid.  Envelopes containing Bids shall be clearly marked with the Bidder’s contractor license number.

In compliance with the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to consider Ordinance 2017-2 entitled, “Wythe County Noise Ordinance.”  The Board of Supervisors will hear comments from citizens concerning the proposed ordinance. 

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 7:05 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Office Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia.

Advertisement for Bids - County Office Building Addition PDF Print E-mail

Sealed Bids for the construction of an approx. 13,000 SF, 3-story addition to the existing Wythe County DSS Office Building Wytheville, Virginia will be received by Mr. Stephen D. Bear, County Administrator, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia on June 15, 2017 until 2:00 PM, local prevailing time, and then publicly opened and read aloud. The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall be according to provision (i) contained in 2.2-4330 A, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended.

Contract is to be awarded on a lump sum basis.

Bid security is required to be submitted with each Bid in the amount of five percent of the Bid. Bid security may be in the form of a certified or cashier’s check or a bid bond secured by a surety company.

A Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in the amount of one hundred percent of the Contract amount will be required on this Project. The Contractor shall also provide Liability Insurance coverage.

A deposit of $250.00 for each set of the Construction Documents is required. All Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and Material Suppliers will be refunded fifty percent of plan deposit for each set returned in good condition within 30 calendar days after the date of the Bid Opening.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.

No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days subsequent to the opening of Bids without the consent of the Owner.

A pre-bid conference will be held in the Boardroom of the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia adjacent to the site on May 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM. All bidders are requested to be present. Attending the conference shall not be mandatory. The conference will include a tour of the existing DSS Office Building and site.

If a contract is for one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000) or more, or if the total value of all construction, removal, repair, or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelvemonthperiod is seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) or more, the bidder is required under Title 54.1, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, to show evidence of being licensed as a “Class A Contractor.” If a contract is seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) or more but less than one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000), the bidder is required to show evidence of being licensed as a “Class B Contractor.” The bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing the bid and shall place in the bid over his signature whichever of the following notations is appropriate:

“Licensed Class A Virginia Contractor No.________”
“Licensed Class B Virginia Contractor No.________ ”
