The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for a full-time Lead Dispatcher Telecommunicator for the Emergency Communications Center. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Field emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public for police, fire, rescue, and other emergency services. To dispatch police, fire, rescue, and other emergency services personnel by radio, radio paging or phone. Conduct entry and inquiry into VCIN/NCIC/DMV records via data terminal. Operate modem and fast –paced computer-aided dispatch utilizing DOS and Windows based operating systems. Carry out assigned miscellaneous tasks, maintaining records, scheduling, day-to-day responsibilities and serve as an assistant to the Director of the Communications Center in performance of a wide variety of training and other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years experience as a telecommunicator. Must possess good keyboarding skills, state certification in VCIN/NCIC and Telecommunications, ability to communicate professionally and efficiently via telephone and radio, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful emergency situations. Must have a minimum of two years experience as a training supervisor or be APCO certified as a trainer and have had leadership training. May be required to pass a hearing test. Must be willing to work any shift with no exceptions. Shifts may be 8 hours to 12 hours in duration. Drug screen and extensive background check required. Starting salary is $30,000.00.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works/County Engineer. 

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required with a PE license preferred; however, experience shall be considered in lieu of the PE license. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate and possess excellent writing skills, be detailed oriented and have five years experience dealing with funding agency such as Rural Development, DHCD, EDA and VRA. The candidate must have a minimum of five years field experience in both construction management and construction of utilities, buildings and site grading. The candidate must demonstrate experience in departmental oversight and development of budgets. Experience in media & community relations (including crisis communications), multi-tasking and public speaking skills are a must. The selected individual should be looking for a challenge, be a hands on person and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

This position is an exempt position. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Salary range for this position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
