WYTHE COUNTY, Va.-  The Drought Warning Advisory previously issued for Wythe County has been lifted.

 

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has rescinded the advisory following recent rains, which have significantly alleviated drought conditions. According to the DEQ, streamflow levels across the county have returned to normal.

 

While the advisory has been lifted, some areas of Wythe County have received less precipitation than others. Residents are urged to remain cautious, especially when engaging in activities involving fire or outdoor burning. Please continue to exercise care to prevent any fire hazards.

 

 

 

WYTHE COUNTY, Va.- Wythe County has strengthened its commitment to public safety with the purchase of four fire trucks for the county fleet.

 

Members of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, Department of Emergency Services, and County administration gathered Tuesday evening to unveil three of the four new fire trucks ahead of the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting. These vehicles will significantly enhance the county's ability to respond to emergencies and serve the community effectively.

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. - Youth athletes from Wythe County and the Town of Wytheville will have the opportunity to play under the bright lights at local high school stadiums during the upcoming "Youth Hometown Lights" games this fall.

 

Taking advantage of the high school football schedules, these future Friday night stars will step into the spotlight. The Wythe County Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Wytheville Parks and Recreation Department will host a series of special youth games on three Friday evenings this season.

WYTHE COUNTY, Va.- A multi-year project at Wythe County’s Ager Park has kids in a playful mood. The community gathered with County leaders Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the completion of Phase 2 of playground upgrades.

 

The first phase of construction of the nature-themed Bliss Products build was completed in August 2023 with the play equipment primarily intended for kids eight to 12 years old. Now, nearly one year later, the second phase is complete, this time with equipment intended for children ages two through eight.
