Fort Chiswell South Sewer - Phase I Pump Station Installation

Wythe County, Virginia is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project: Fort Chiswell South Sewer - Phase I Pump Station Installation 22-25

Bids for the construction of the Project will be received at the Wythe County Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA  24382, until  22 October 2024 at 2:00 local time. A previously bid project (opened on 5 September 2024) included the pump station and linework in a combined project. At that time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read.

The Project includes the following Work:

Construction of a pump station, gravel access and related appurtenances just south of Fort Chiswell, Virginia.  Owner will provide pumps and generator for the work.

The Project has an expected duration of 210 days.

Bidding Documents may be downloaded from the designated website. Prospective Bidders are urged to register with the designated website as a plan holder, even if Bidding Documents are obtained from a plan room or source other than the designated website in either electronic or paper format. The designated website will be updated periodically with addenda, lists of registered plan holders, reports, and other information relevant to submitting a Bid for the Project. All official notifications, addenda, and other Bidding Documents will be offered only through the designated website. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the designated website.

Prospective Bidders may obtain or examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9-5, and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below. Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office.

Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office by paying a deposit of $200 for each set. Bidders and Non-Bidders who return full sets of the Bidding Documents in good condition within 10 days after receipt of Bids will receive a half refund.  Make deposit checks for Bidding Documents payable to Peed & Bortz, LLC.

CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964:  The Contractor and any subcontractors shall not, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, or sex, exclude from participation in, deny the benefits of, or subject to discrimination, any person under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

SECTION 13 of PL 92-500; UNDER THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT; REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973; PL 93-112, AND AGE DISCRIMINATION ACT OF 1975:  The Contractor and any subcontractors shall not on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or sex, exclude from participation in, deny the benefits of, or subject to discrimination any person under any program or activity funded in whole or in part with Federal funds. Any prohibition against discrimination on the basis of age under the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, or with respect to an otherwise qualified handicapped individual as provided in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 shall also apply to any such program or activity.

Pre-bid Conference

A pre-bid conference for the Project will not be held for this project.  Bidders are encouraged to contact the engineer prior to October 17, 2024 to arrange a site visit if so desired.

For all further requirements regarding bid submittal, qualifications, procedures, and contract award, refer to the Instructions to Bidders that are included in the Bidding Documents.

Should the apparent low bid exceed available funds, the Owner reserves the right to negotiate with the apparent low bidder to obtain a contract price within available funds.
