In compliance with Section 53.1-120 of the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to consider Amendment 2 to Ordinance No. 2002-2 entitled, “Courthouse Security Fee Ordinance of Wythe County, Virginia”. The Board of Supervisors will hear comments from citizens concerning the proposed amendment.

Pursuant to Section 58.1-3007 of the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing. The purpose of the public hearing is to give the citizens of Wythe County an opportunity to comment on the proposed tax levy for Calendar Year 2020.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, in the Board Room of the Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter practical. Due to the public health threat posed by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, current guidance by the Governor of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Health on social distancing and public gatherings, the meeting will occur via electronic means or, if by physical attendance, the in-person gathering size shall be limited to ten (10) individuals, including board members and staff. The meeting will be streamed live via Internet and any Wythe County citizen wishing to speak may call 276-223-4504 prior to the meeting and provide their telephone number, and they will be called and allowed to provide comments via phone to the meeting in accordance with the Board of Supervisors Rules of Procedure. Any Wythe County citizen may also provide written comments prior to the meeting that will be entered into the official minutes of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors and summarized by the Chair or designee at the Board Meeting. The proposed use of such taxes, when and if appropriated by the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, shall be to defray the County's charges incidental to or arising from the execution of lawful authority of the Board of Supervisors of Wythe County, Virginia.

On Friday April 24, 2020, the Governor Postponed the May 5, 2020, Municipal Elections until May 19, 2020. Below are important dates regarding the Election:

The Virginia Department of Elections announced that all town voters may cast Absentee Ballots in the May 19th Town Elections. All voters are encouraged to request and vote an absentee ballot by mail. All eligible voters may request a ballot using Reason Code 2A, even if they do not suffer from an illness or disability.

To request an absentee ballot:

3.) Important Dates: May 12, 2020 is the last day for the Registrar’s Office to receive an absentee ballot application by mail.

Please ensure that your application is complete. Absentee voters are reminded to allow sufficient time to receive and return your voted ballot, allowing for possible postal delays. Do not delay in requesting or submitting your ballot.
