The public hearing is open to comment on an ordinance establishing the Bentwood Drive Transportation Service District in the Lead Mines District. The property owners have petitioned the county to create the Service District in order to establish approximately 0.8 miles of Bentwood Drive as a paved public secondary road.  

The district would be created on an equal-share basis with each petitioner responsible for one-seventeenth of all annual costs related to construction, utility relocation and administrative costs of the district. Half of the construction cost would be paid by the Virginia Department of Transportation local assistance revenue sharing funds.

Sealed bids will be received for the Appalachian Expo (Apex) Center, in the Assistant County Administrator’s Office at the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 on or before February 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud on February 13, 2023 at 11:30 AM in the Wythe County Board of Supervisor’s Conference Room.

It is the intent of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors that the Work will be awarded under a single prime General Construction Contract.

A non-mandatory Pre-bid Conference will be held Wednesday February 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM for the project. Attending contractors are to meet at the site located at 200 Apex Drive, Wytheville, VA 24382. Bidding contractors are encouraged to attend to familiarize themselves with existing site and building conditions.

The work generally consists of locker rooms, seating, concession upgrades, play surfaces for hockey and soccer, refrigeration, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and electrical work.

Wythe County’s Board of Supervisors requests proposals for the purchase of eighteen (18) open circuit, self-contained breathing apparatus and related components for use by Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department. Proposals shall consist of one (1) signed original and two (2) copies, along with an electronic copy (.pdf preferred) submitted in a sealed envelope plainly marked “SCBA RFP 2023.”

Responses must be received at the Wythe County Administration Office, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 no later than Friday, February 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. local time. Faxed, e-mail and late responses will not be accepted. Vendors assume the risk of the methods of courier. Wythe County assumes no responsibility for delays caused by package or mail delivery service. Postmarking by the due date and time will be rejected. Additional time will not be granted to any vendor. Additional time may be granted to all vendors when Wythe County determines that circumstances require it. Wythe County reserves the right to accept or reject any and all responses and to accept minor deviations from the minimum standards specified. Wythe County reserves to itself the exclusive right to accept high responses when it believes it would be in the best interest of Wythe County. In making such a decision, the County may consider, but not be limited to, any of the following factors: quality, specifications, availability, compatibility and interoperability, service and location of respondent and reputation of respondent.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is expected to consider award at its February 28, 2023 meeting.
